PULLMAN, Wash. – Information Services has made “firstname.lastname” email addresses available as an opt-in feature for Washington State University faculty and staff. To opt in and use your firstname.lastname email go to http://wsu.edu/NID, then click on “Modify your email address.”
It is important to understand that this will not eliminate your current email address. Both your current email address and your new firstname.lastname email address will be retained. Both will continue to work, and the email server will automatically push email messages sent to either email address to your email inbox.
Benefits
Offering a firstname.lastname email provides a standardized email naming convention, makes it easier to find people within Outlook Exchange and improves email delivery to and from WSU. New WSU students were updated to the firstname.lastname email configuration in May 2009.
