Chancellor finalists visit, attend forums at WSU Vancouver

VANCOUVER, Wash. – Four candidates for chancellor of Washington State University Vancouver will visit campus in the next two weeks.
Each will meet with campus groups and attend a community forum 4:15-5:15 p.m. in the Dengerink Administration building, room 110, on the day of his or her visit. Campus and community members are invited to the forums.
 
“We are pleased with the quality of the applicants who are seeking this position,” said Gay Selby, chair of the chancellor search committee and clinical associate professor in the College of Education. “We believe the four finalists are particularly strong candidates who offer an interesting range of backgrounds and skill sets.
 
“We look forward to hosting them, acquainting them with what WSU Vancouver has to offer and getting feedback from the university community,” she said.
Thursday, Feb. 23: Cheryl Norton, senior fellow of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities. She previously served as president of Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven April 2004-May 2010.
 
She earned her bachelor’s degree in physical education and recreation from Denison (Ohio) University, a master of arts degree and master of education degree, both in applied physiology, from Teachers College at Columbia University, and a doctor of education degree in applied physiology from the same institution.
 
Friday, Feb. 24: Taylor Eighmy, vice president for research and professor at Texas Tech University since 2009. He previously he held a number of administrative positions at the University of New Hampshire, including interim vice president for research.
 
He earned his bachelor of science degree in biology from Tufts University, and master’s and doctoral degrees in civil engineering from the University of New Hampshire.
Monday, Feb. 27: Karen White, professor of music at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg. She has served as regional chancellor of the University of South Florida St. Petersburg and senior advisor to the campus executive officer at University of South Florida Polytechnic.
 
She earned her bachelor’s degree in music education from the University of Arkansas, and master’s and doctoral degrees in violin performance from the University of Arizona.
 
Wednesday, Feb. 29: Emile Netzhammer, III, provost and professor at Keene State (N.H.) College. He has worked at Keene State since 2006; he previously was the dean of arts and humanities at Buffalo State College.
 
He earned his bachelor’s degree in communication from Loyola University in New Orleans and his master’s in mass communication and doctoral degree in communication from the University of Utah.
