PULLMAN, Wash. Shelley Pressley, Washington State University undergraduate research director, will present the first free, public Common Reading Tuesdays lecture of the semester, “Climate Change Research by Undergraduates,” at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, in Smith CUE 203.
Pressley will discuss climate change research conducted by the Laboratory for Atmospheric Research, where she is an assistant research professor. She will be joined by two undergraduates, Elaina Shawver and Loren Ariza.
The presentation will include information about how students can get involved with undergraduate research.
Shawver, junior civil engineering major, researches with George Mount, professor of civil and environmental engineering, and Elena Spinei, research associate in civil and environmental engineering. Ariza, senior botany major, researches with Asaph Cousins, assistant professor of biology.
Common Reading Tuesdays is a weekly lecture series featuring faculty and other experts discussing topics related to the common reading book used in many first-year classes by freshmen and other students on campus. The 2011-12 book, “Physics for Future Presidents,” is by University of California-Berkeley retired professor Richard A. Muller, who visited campus in September to present the annual invited lecture.
